Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Camp Alliwannado?

Camp Alliwannado is situated at the Queen's Park in Tavistock, Ontario. The technical address is 2 Adam St., Tavistock, ON. We make use of the new pavilion that was built in 2013. Queen's Park offers a variety of fantastic amenities including the soccer and baseball fields, two playgrounds, and a large natural shaded area where we play many nature games using the trees! During cold and rainy days we are fully protected under the pavilion with washrooms on site.

What will my child do at camp?

Camp Alliwannado seeks to provide campers with a true traditional camping experience within a day camp setting! Each week offers a new theme with daily themes complementing the theme for the week. Campers can expect to participate in a variety of games and activities each day ranging from the athletics to the arts. Anything goes at camp! A unique schedule is created for each week outlining all of the activities and is available from the director upon request.

What time does camp start and end each day?

Camp runs Monday to Friday from 9:00am until 4:00pm. Campers can be dropped off each morning between 8:30 and 9:00am. Early drop off and late pickup is available upon request for $5 per hour. Please make arrangements with the camp director if you are needing this service.

What should I send with my child to camp?

Unless told otherwise by the camp director, campers each day will need a pair of running shoes and a bathing suit/towel. Campers will also bring their own lunch with a water bottle. Morning juice break and afternoon snack will be provided. Other important things you may want to send with your child include sunscreen and a hat. Please do not send any electronics or valuables with your child!

Will my child be with other campers their age?

Camp Alliwannado accepts a diverse range in age of campers each week (4-12). We try our best to put campers with other children of similar age for most activities throughout the day, however, many of our activities are done as a whole group. This diversity in age offers a variety of benefits to all campers! In working and playing with children of all ages, campers employ a variety of leadership skills and generally really enjoy this set-up. It is neither encouraged nor discouraged to come with friends to camp - camp is a fantastic place to make new friendships or build on old ones! Camp is a completely unique experience in this sense.

How does registration work?

Registration is super easy! On our registration page you can find the link to register. The registration online is used to track the number of campers from week to week. Your child's spot in a camp is confirmed upon receiving payment. You can submit payment via cheque or e-transfer.

Can my child come for more than one week?

Of course! Until registration is full, you may send your child for as many of the eight weeks as you would like. Because each week has such unique programming, your child will have lots of new experiences and adventures from week to week!

How much does camp cost?

Your child's first week of camp for this season will cost you $165 +HST. Each additional week that you send your child in the same camping season will cost $140+HST per week.
