Where is Camp Alliwannado?
Camp Alliwannado is located at the Queen's Park in Tavistock, Ontario. The technical address is 2 Adam Street. We use the pavilion as our home base and shelter during poor weather conditions. The Queen's Park offers a variet of fantastic amenities including soccer and baseball fields, two playgrounds, and a large natural shaded area where we gather, play, and explore!
From what age can children attend Alliwannado?
Our main camp program is designed for campers ages 4-10. We are able to accommodate 3-year-olds who are entering FDK in September. Our Junior Leadership program is intended for campers ages 11-13.
What time does camp start and end each day?
Camp runs Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Campers can be dropped off each morning between 8:30am and 9:00am. Early drop off and late pick up is available upon request for a fee. Our early drop off starts from 7:30am and our late pick up goes until 5:30pm.
What should I send with my child to camp?
Unless told otherwise in the week-specific emails, campers each day will need running shoes, or other comfortable close-toed shoes, as well as a towel and bathing suit. Extra clothing is recommended. Campers should bring their own lunch and water bottle. Afternoon snack is provided. Campers should also have sunscreen and a hat. Please do not send any electronics or valuable with your child.
Will my child be in their friend's group?
We try our best to meet group requests. Campers are grouped based on age.
What are your staff to camper ratios?
We follow the Ontario Camping Association guidelines and maintain a ratio of 1 staff: 6 campers for campers aged 5 and under and a ratio of 1 staff: 10 campers for campers aged 6 and over.
What do you do in bad weather?
Campers are encourage to bring appropriate clothing for the different types of weather. In case of thunder/lightening, we have access to the covered pavilion. In case of extreme or dangerous weather, we have access to the arena.
